Halle Bailey's ex-partner DDG requested a restraining order against her on June 4, 2025. This happened shortly after Bailey secured a restraining order against the rapper on May 13.
According to People magazine's report dated June 5, 2025, Darryl filed an emergency court order requesting to deny Halle Bailey from taking their 17-month-old son Halo to Italy with her. However, his request was denied.
The rapper, whose real name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., cited that his ex taking Halo to Italy would be an "imminent emotional and psychological risk to the minor child based on repeated, documented threats of self-harm.” His claims also included that if his son were to leave the country, he would be without the court's protections as well as "emergency intervention mechanisms."
In his motion requesting an emergency hearing, DDG sought sole legal and physical custody of his son Halo with Halle Bailey, in addition to restricting the singer from travelling with Halo internationally.
However, the court has denied Darryl's request until a hearing is held on the same. Additionally, the rapper claimed that he experienced instances of coercion and physical abuse. He also alleged that Halle Bailey posed "an immediate threat to my safety and emotional well-being and more importantly, to the stability and safety of our son."
Further in the filing, DDG claimed that Halle Bailey used emotional coercion regularly, stating it wasn't limited to "threats of self-harm." The rapper alleged that Bailey used these threats when he attempted to end their relationship, mentioning that she weaponized her pregnancy by threatening to "abort" their baby if he didn't 'reconcile or accede to her demands." He claimed that she invaded his privacy as well.
According to GMA, the court granted Darryl a temporary order of protection against his former girlfriend, reportedly ordering Bailey not to harass, assault, stalk, impersonate, or surveil the rapper. However, the court denied DDG's request for "stay-away" and "no-contact" orders till a hearing was scheduled.
On June 6, DDG's lawyer, Larry M. Bakman, shared a statement with Good Morning America, stating that the custody-related issues between the former couple are still pending, adding that his client "remains committed to resolving them through the appropriate legal channels, not the court of public opinion."
In order to back his claims, the rapper's motion reportedly consisted of third-party statements from his mother, Tonya Granberry and her fiancé, George Charlston. Per GMA, Tonya Granberry's declaration mentioned that she and Charlston found multiple AirTags, which were seemingly left behind by Halle Bailey. Granberry alleged that it was a deliberate and clear pattern of "unathorized surveillance" and stalking of Darryl.
DDG's restraining order filing against Halle Bailey comes weeks after she was granted one against the rapper in May. As per ABC News, Bailey accused Darryl of abusing her multiple times in her filing. At the time, Halle Bailey stated:
"I cannot keep living like this. I never know when he is going to demand our son be in his Mother's care and whether I will be subjected to his threats and abuse."
Darryl's hearing on the requests for domestic violence restraining orders is scheduled for June 24, 2025. For the unversed, Darryl and Halle Bailey started seeing each other in January 2022 and announced their split in October 2024.
