Lil Wayne's sixth instalment of Tha Carter series, Tha Carter VI, was released on June 6, 2025. The 19-song album included features from various artists like Jelly Roll, Big Sean, Kodak Black and 2 Chainz, among others.
Before the album's release, fans anticipated a Young Money reunion after a Sports Illustrated report published on June 5 claimed Drake and Nicki Minaj were expected to reunite with the New Orleans rapper for the album.
However, neither artist was featured in any of the 19 tracks, as reported by HotNewHipHop.
Nicki Minaj, Drake and Lil Wayne have previously teamed up for songs like Truffle Butter, Only and Finale, and have also released a compilation album in 2009 titled We Are Young Money, which also featured other Young Money artists like Tyga and Gudda Gudda.
According to HipHop DX, the trio's last collaboration was in 2021 on the song Seeing Green.
Tha Carter VI is the follow-up to the fifth part of Tha Carter series, released in 2018. It is also Wayne's first solo LP since his 2020 album, Funeral.
The New Orleans rapper announced Tha Carter VI's release date during a Cetaphil Super Bowl commercial in February 2025.
Lil Wayne's Tha Carter VI saw the rapper collaborate with several high-profile artists like MGK, Bono, Kodak Black and Wyclef Jean, among others.
Wayne also featured his sons, Kameron Carter and Neal Carter, aka Lil Novi, in two separate songs. Here's a list of all the artists featured on Lil Wayne's latest musical offering.
BigXthaPlug and Jay Jones joined Wayne on the track Hip-Hop, while Jelly Roll and Big Sean were featured in Sharks. Bono, U2's lead vocalist, lent his vocals on The Days.
The song, which was first teased at ESPN's NBA Finals Promo on June 5, was the first song to be previewed ahead of the album.
According to Billboard, Lil Wayne explained why he decided to team up with ESPN ahead of his album's release, saying:
“Basketball’s been in my blood since day one, so to team up with ESPN less than 24 hours before the drop of Tha Carter VI for the NBA Finals is an incredible honor. My music and the NBA are vibin’ on the same frequency because it’s perfect timing for fans to hear Tha Carter VI on the game’s grandest stage.”
Kameron Carter, Lil Wayne's son with actress Lauren London, was featured on the track Rari, while Lil Novi, Wayne's son with singer Nivea, appeared on the song Mula Komin In.
The song Maria featured Wyclef Jean and Andrea Bocelli.
Meanwhile, Kodak Black and MGK joined Wayne for the album's penultimate song, Alone In The Studio With My Gun. 2 Chainz featured on Cotton Candy, and Mannie Fresh appeared on Bein Myself.
On June 3, Lil Wayne announced a tour to promote his new album, kicking it off with the inaugural show at Madison Square Garden on the same day as his album's release.
Following this, the rapper will perform across the US on a 34-stop tour between June 30 and October 2, performing in various cities like Atlantic City, Detroit, Seattle, Phoenix, Atlanta, and Dallas.
Tyga and Belly Gang Kushington are scheduled as the opening act for Wayne's tour.
