The legacy of DC's prominent superhero on the big screen is set to be continued by the American actor David Corenswet. The actor succeeds Henry Cavill, who portrayed the superhero before him in three DC films, namely Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, and Justice League.

James has stated previously that he won't be dwelling on the character's origin arc since it has been shown in many of the past movies. Instead, his film shows Clark Kent enjoying a successful time in his superhero and professional duties, but certain new elements leave him unbalanced. He is "madly" in love with Louis, who is unsure about him, and his superhero friends think he is naive.

James intends to make David Corenswet's Superman a kind superhero and showcase the vulnerabilities that an invincible man like him can also end up facing.
