When did Tom Hiddleston and Zawe Ashton get engaged? Relationship explored as actress confirms pregnancy
Tom Hiddleston and Zawe Ashton are expecting a second child. Ashton confirmed it in an exclusive interview with Vogue, published on Saturday, June 7.
Hiddleston and Ashton started dating in 2019 after starring in the West End production of the play Betrayal. They got engaged in 2022 and welcomed their first child in October that year. The name and gender of the child haven't been revealed.
Ashton revealed her second pregnancy on Saturday, exclusively to Vogue first. She later appeared on the red carpet for the closing of the SXSW show in London, wearing a dress made by Emilia Wickstead.

When Tom Hiddleston spoke about Zawe Ashton and parenthood
Tom Hiddleston and Zawe Ashton have mostly been very private about their relationship over the years. They choose not to disclose too much or talk much about it either.
Hiddleston was on the Happy Sad Confused podcast with Josh Horowitz last year and spoke about his partner. Ashton notably played the role of Dar-Benn in The Marvels, which was released in 2023.
Tom Hiddleston, meanwhile, has been portraying Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for around a decade now. He was asked about Ashton stepping into the universe and said (via US Weekly):
"I'm so proud of her yeah, and she’s terrific in the Marvels. I just only saw it recently. Yeah, it has been it has been bizarre to to share those stories. I mean, I kind of want her to talk about her own work in her own way, but but yeah, I’m so proud of her. We’ve had some definitely had some laughs along the way about zippers and bathroom breaks.”
Hiddleston was also asked if becoming a parent has changed his and Ashton's outlook on life, and he answered:
"Of course, it has to. I think I probably knew it would, but I could never have imagined how deeply it would until it happened. And yeah, it’s before and after.”
Tom Hiddleston is expected to continue playing Loki in future Marvel movies, including Avengers: Doomsday, which will be released in 2026.

Zawe Ashton on working with Emilia Wickstead
Ashton walked the red carpet for the closing of the SXSW festival in London on Saturday, June 7. To design her outfit, which would display her baby bump, she collaborated with Emilia Wickstead. The designer and the actor have been friends and collaborators for a long time, and hence, it was fitting to join hands for this special dress as well.
In an exclusive interview with Vogue before her red-carpet experience, Ashton spoke about working with Wickstead and her team and said:
“I feel really lucky to be working with someone that I know and who’s been such a champion of me at this sensitive red-carpet dressing moment. I feel like I’ll be very held on an evening where, as an expectant mother, you can feel a little bit exposed.”
She wore a sleeveless sky blue silk crepe gown with frill details on Saturday. It also had a svelte, puddling cape in matching fabric.
