Gabon and Guinea-Bissau return to action on Monday when they go head-to-head in a friendly at the Stade El Bachir. This will be the first meeting between the two teams since November 2022, when Thierry Dieudonne Mouyouma’s men picked up a 3-1 victory in a similar friendly tie.

Gabon were on the wrong end of a seven-goal thriller against Niger on Friday as they fell to a 4-3 defeat when the two nations squared off in a friendly at the Stade Père Jégo.

Before that, Mouyouma’s men were on a three-game winning run, including back-to-back victories over Seychelles and Kenya in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Gabon, who are 73rd in the latest FIFA World Rankings, are on course to secure a World Cup ticket as they sit second in Group F of the qualifiers with 15 points from six games, one point behind first-placed Ivory Coast.

Guinea-Bissau, on the other hand, failed to find their feet last Friday when they suffered a 1-0 defeat against Burundi in a friendly at the Stade Municipal de Berrechid.

Luis Boa Morte Pereira’s men have lost five straight games across all competitions and have failed to win their last nine outings, losing five and picking up two draws since a 1-0 win over Eswatini in September 2024.

This poor run of results has put Guinea-Bissau’s hopes of securing a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup under serious threat as they sit fifth in Group A of the qualifiers, five points behind second-placed Burkina Faso in the playoff spot.

Gabon vs Guinea-Bissau Head-To-Head and Key Numbers

Guinea-Bissau have struggled to grind out results in recent outings and will be looking to secure a morale-boosting result at the Stade El Bachir.

However, Mouyouma’s men boast the firepower needed to get the job done and we are backing them to heap more misery on Guinea-Bissau.

Prediction: Gabon 2-1 Guinea-Bissau
