Triple H reportedly made the difficult decision regarding R-Truth's departure from WWE. However, The Game and the company were forced to pivot and bring back Truth after a huge backlash from fans. While the return has excited the fans, it has not sat well with wrestling veteran Vince Russo.

R-Truth returned to WWE at Money in the Bank, about a week after announcing his departure from the company. He emerged from the crowd during the main event and attacked John Cena, helping Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso pick up the win against Cena and Logan Paul.

Speaking about the return on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW, Vince Russo noted how he thought the return should have been presented, with Triple H initially taking all the glory and Truth denying it:

"Why is he coming from the crowd? Why is he wearing a mask? Why didn’t we set up something where Triple H was gonna take all the glory and say, ‘You wanted it, we heard you loud and clear.’ Bring him out and let Truth talk about how he really felt." [15:04 - 15:24]

The former WWE writer added that Truth getting hired back due to fan pressure should have been the storyline:

"They had every reason to move on, and maybe they offered him another position, and he turned it down. We don’t know. They had every reason to move on from the guy. Now, if fans are going to bring him back, then make that the story." [15:59 onwards]

R-Truth was present on RAW, where he cut his braids off and revealed that he's now Ron Killings. It appears that the former champion will be portrayed as a more serious character going forward.
