WWE RAW after the 2025 Money in the Bank concluded with a shocker as Gunther pulled off an upset after he defeated Jey Uso in the main event and became the World Heavyweight Champion for the second time.

The Yeet Master’s World Heavyweight Championship reign ended at 51 days. Uso has been a workhorse champion, frequently defending his title against multiple names. However, he fell short in retaining his gold against the Ring General.

In this listicle, we look at three potential reasons why Jey Uso lost his WWE World Heavyweight Championship to Gunther on the June 9 edition of Monday Night RAW ahead of Night of Champions 2025.

#3. Gunther’s supermatch against a legend

Last year, former Universal Champion Goldberg announced that he would compete in his final WWE match in 2025. He was in the training camp for a while, which almost appears complete, and his return to Stamford-based promotion might be on the horizon. Night of Champions 2025 will be hosted in Saudi Arabia, and Da Man is one of the stars the Kingdom prefers to host.

Moreover, at the 2024 Bad Blood PLE, Goldberg and Gunther had a confrontation after the Ring General insulted the legend in front of his family and fans. Before things could have escalated further, Triple H got it under control. However, before leaving, WCW icon confirmed he was coming for the Austrian star next.

While multiple conflicting reports on the match hanging in jeopardy, it appears Gunther has won the title back, setting up a championship match against Goldberg at Night of Champions 2025.

#2. Jey Uso would join the Bloodline Civil War

The 2025 Money in the Bank Premium Live Event saw major fallout between Bloodline 2.0 as Jacob Fatu finally snapped at Solo Sikoa. The Samoan Werewolf held Sikoa’s leg, pulled him down as he was about to unhook the briefcase, and annihilated and put him through the ladder at the ringside, knocking him out cold.

Sikoa appeared upset as he posted a picture of himself with Jacob Fatu on his official Instagram account with a cross out of Jacob's face, and subtly vowed to get revenge on Fatu on the blue brand. Tongans might also return, and the Samoan Werewold could fall into the number and need reinforcement to counter.

Jimmy Uso could join the civil war against Sikoa and Co. Eventually, Jey Uso could return to the blue brand and join the storyline. This could be another reason the Yeet Master lost his championship so that he could re-enter the Bloodline saga.

#1. Uso could take time off

Jey Uso has been a workhorse since he turned babyface and started his singles run as a babyface. He has worked a demanding schedule competing at house shows, weekly editions, and almost every premium live event, and he deserves a break to rehab.

Cody Rhodes took some time off after he lost his Undisputed Championship, and returned after a few weeks. Jey Uso also needs a break to gather himself. This could be another reason behind him losing his title. The Yeet Master might go on hiatus and return near SummerSlam 2025.
