"So humble and sweet" — ARMYs touched as X user shares heartwarming story of meeting BTS' RM at NU'EST Jonghyun's birthday event before discharge
A few days ahead of his military discharge, BTS leader RM had a chance encounter with an X user, @boogi_choigo68, at a local photo booth. On June 8, 2025, the user shared their experience of meeting RM while attending NU’EST member Jonghyun’s birthday event. The user was at the booth when a group of soldiers entered, among them a tall, masked man who seemed familiar.
It turned out to be RM. He had come with fellow soldiers to take photos ahead of their discharge. The original poster (OP) described how RM appeared flustered when the payment machine wasn’t working.
This prompted her to inform him that the booth was free due to the birthday event. She then approached him shyly for an autograph, which he provided. RM even asked if it was acceptable for her to receive his autograph instead of her intended idol’s, to which the fan responded that he was a world-class artist.
The brief interaction quickly spread across social media. One X user, @giftthiti, wrote:

ARMYs, already anticipating BTS’ full reunion, celebrated the story. Some noted it was heartening to hear about RM’s presence. Others remarked on how special it would be to meet an idol in such an everyday moment.
Many appreciated that the fan, though originally there for another group, respectfully shared the experience and acknowledged RM’s humility.

They emphasized that no official events will be held at the military sites. Meanwhile, BTS is currently celebrating FESTA 2025, the group’s annual event marking their debut anniversary. This year’s theme, Twelve O’Clock, takes inspiration from the song Zero O’Clock.
An offline event will be held at KINTEX 2 in Goyang on June 13–14. It will feature interactive booths, voice message zones, BTS memorabilia displays, and more.
Whether the newly discharged members will attend in person remains unconfirmed, but excitement is building as fans look forward to welcoming all seven members back together for the first time since 2022.
