Cardi B ignited fan excitement when a video surfaced online showing her previewing a new song, titled Outside, during an appearance in Los Angeles. The unreleased track quickly went viral, with many listeners interpreting the lyrics as a pointed diss towards her estranged husband, Offset.

Fans immediately drew comparisons to her breakout hit Bodak Yellow, dubbing the new song "Bodak Yellow 2.0." One X user tweeted:

"She finally got her Bodak Yellow 2.0. Thank you, Offset. We won."

Similar reactions continued to flood X. Many also expressed their excitement and urged the rapper to release the song soon.

"The way she promoted bodak yellow this way WE GOT A CERTIFIED HIT," wrote another user.
"SHE NEEDS TO DROP THE RELEASE DATEEEEE," said another.
"Cardi I neeeed this to drop this summer! PLEASE!" requested another.

However, many weren't impressed by the unreleased track.

"She will never have good music again. She stopped focusing on music and it really shows..," wrote a user.
"They weren’t feeling it," said another, referencing the crowd at the preview.

Cardi B later addressed the viral clip and the intense fan demand for the song during an Instagram Live session. She revealed she is reconsidering releasing Outside as a single.

"I don’t know if I really wanna put that song out, to be honest with you," the rapper stated.

She clarified that her hesitation wasn't due to self-doubt but rather a shift in her release strategy.

"It was never the plan. I don’t think I wanna put out a single, to be honest with you. I just wanna put out my album all at the same time," Cardi added.

Cardi B confirmed she is filming a music video "in a couple of weeks," but explicitly stated it wouldn't be for Outside. The announcement disappointed many fans eagerly awaiting new music from Cardi B, especially given the long wait for her sophomore album, the follow-up to 2018's Invasion of Privacy.

Cardi previously expressed her own frustrations during an Instagram live last month regarding the album's delay, citing issues with unfinished features from other artists. The speculation that Outside targets Offset arises amidst ongoing public tension between the former couple following their separation.

Cardi B has not explicitly confirmed that Outside is about Offset, nor has she provided specific details about the lyrics previewed in the LA video beyond acknowledging the track's existence and the viral reaction to it.

Her decision to potentially shelve the song as a single, opting instead for a full album release strategy, leaves the future of Outside uncertain. The focus now shifts to the completion and eventual release of her long-awaited second album.
