Manchester United are locked in a battle with bitter rivals Manchester City for the services of Lucas Chevalier, according to Le Parisien (via Get Football News France). The Red Devils are looking for a new goalkeeper this season amid concerns about Andre Onana's form.

The Cameroonian has divided opinion among fans since arriving from Inter Milan in the summer of 2023. In the recently concluded season, Onana managed 11 clean sheets from 50 games, letting in 65 goals.

Ruben Amorim reportedly desires an upgrade between the sticks, and Manchester United have now identified Chevalier as an option. The French goalkeeper has caught the eye with Lille this season, registering 13 clean sheets from 48 games.

His efforts have also earned him admirers at Manchester City, with Pep Guardiola eyeing a successor for Ederson. The Cityzens endured a trophyless 2024/25 campaign and are likely to have an active summer ahead.

A new goalkeeper is also on their agenda as they look to get back to their best. However, prising Chevalier away from Lille won't be a walk in the park, as he is under contract until 2027.

The Ligue 1 club are reportedly eager to tie 23-year-old down to a new deal and will only let him go for €70m this summer. While the price tag wouldn't be beyond Manchester City, competition from Manchester United could pose a problem.

Are Manchester United and Manchester City eyeing Gianluigi Donnarumma this summer?

Manchester United and Manchester City are also hot on the heels of Gianluigi Donnarumma, according to L'Equipe (via SportBible). The French custodian was outstanding for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the 2024/25 campaign, helping them win a historic treble.

Donnarumma registered 12 clean sheets from 40 games across competitions for the Parisians, including six in 15 games in the Champions League. However, the 26-year-old's contract with the Ligue 1 champions expires in 2026, and renewal talks have reportedly hit a standstill.

The situation has added to speculation regarding his future, with Donnarumma linked with an exit from the Parc des Princes this summer. The Italian is one of the finest in the world in his position, and understandably, there's no dearth of interest in his services.

Donnarumma reportedly expressed an interest in moving to the Premier League to his teammates while on international duty for the UEFA Nations League. Manchester City and Manchester United are both keeping a close eye on the situation as they look to sort their goalkeeping conundrum this summer.
