Defending champions Mexico will get their CONCACAF Gold Cup campaign underway against the Dominican Republic at SoFi Stadium on Saturday. Los Quisqueyanos will make their debut in the competition and this match will be their first appearance at a major international tournament.
El Tri suffered a 4-2 loss to Switzerland in a friendly last week and bounced back with a 1-0 win over Turkey earlier this week. Orbelín Pineda scored the only goal of the match in the 45th minute.
Los Quisqueyanos were in action in the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers earlier this month. After a 4-2 away loss to Guatemala, they overcame Dominica 5-0 at home earlier this week.
El Tri warmed up for the friendly with a win and a loss earlier this month. They have scored two goals apiece in four of their six games in 2025 thus far and will look to continue their prolific run here.
Guillermo Ochoa is back in the squad for this competition after being left out of the CONCACAF Nations League in March. Raul Jimenez is expected to lead the attack here.
Los Quisqueyanos head into the match in good form, losing just one of their last 11 games. They will make their debut in the Gold Cup here and will look to leave a good account of themselves.
The defending champions have a great record in the Gold Cup, and considering their advantage in terms of squad quality, we back El Tri to register a comfortable win.
