Pat McAfee is a man of many talents, and he's also a man who is in a lot of places at different points in time. A new report has revealed that he got legitimately upset over some old footage airing and has been considering quitting a major role.

According to The Athletic's Andrew Marchand, Pat McAfee has been considering shifting from his role at ESPN, as he is a part of their flagship College GameDay and is seemingly in the midst of a very lucrative deal. But while the thought of him quitting ESPN to make his own independent College GameDay show was already reported, what wasn't reported was why he got upset.

According to The Athletic, there was old footage of McAfee that aired, showing him missing swings from a softball pitcher. McAfee reportedly demanded to find out who was responsible for airing this, but he wasn't given the information:

"McAfee cares about his image. During a GameDay stop in Norman, Oklahoma, last fall, McAfee grew upset about being shown swinging and missing during a segment in which he faced a University of Oklahoma softball pitcher. McAfee, according to sources briefed on the incident, demanded to know the name of the GameDay staff member who put it on the air, but he was denied the information."

What damage did Pat McAfee suffer during his loss to Gunther at WWE Backlash?

McAfee stepped back into the ring after a few years at Backlash 2025 and proved to be a rest stop for The Ring General Gunther, who beat him and ended up winning his World Heavyweight Championship back just a month later.

After the match, Pat McAfee reflected on the damage he suffered and said that an eye vessel was popped by Gunther:

"WWE medical saw. They wanted to get their hands on me today before they let me out here. I said everything's sore. My back's sore, shoulder's sore, my knees are sore, my mind's sore, I've got bruises on me still. My collarbone. I'm bruised up. He hit me so hard in the chest, that he popped an eye vessel in my eye Cole."

Be that as it may, one thing McAfee successfully achieved was earning the respect of Gunther. Despite being a heel, The Ring General occasionally gives his flowers when it's due. After the main event of the incredible Bash in Berlin PLE last year, Gunther shook hands with Randy Orton.
