Triple H received backlash online after discussing R-Truth's WWE return at the Money in the Bank post-show press conference. Reacting to the controversy, WWE Hall of Famer John Bradshaw Layfield (JBL) explained why he had no problem with The Game's response.

Truth, real name Ron Killings, announced on June 1 that he had been let go by WWE. Six days later, he surprisingly appeared at Money in the Bank to help Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso defeat John Cena and Logan Paul. Triple H claimed after the event that the return was "all part of the show," implying that Truth's departure might have been scripted.

On the Something to Wrestle podcast, JBL applauded WWE's Chief Content Officer for keeping fans guessing:

"When Hunter [Triple H] says this, I'm a huge fan of this. I'm a huge fan of saying, 'Hey, it was all part of the show.' I'm like, 'Cool.' You don't know if it was or not. You think it probably wasn't, but you don't know for sure. I love that because that blurs that line, and I think that's important to blur that line." [5:21 – 5:36]

Many fans disliked Triple H's claim after it was widely reported that Truth's WWE exit was real. The two-time United States Champion's son, Christopher Killings, also reacted negatively to the remark.

JBL on Triple H's WWE post-show press conferences

Since 2022, Triple H and a select few WWE stars have answered media questions after premium live events. While some people remain in character at the press conferences, others share real-life thoughts on their careers and storylines.

After witnessing the fallout from the Money in the Bank press conference, JBL does not think the concept benefits anyone involved:

"I think those press conferences are horrible. I hate them because there's no way to win with those things. You wanna either stay in character or not stay in character. It's hard to do both. It's hard to work and also shoot on those things. I don't get the press conferences." [3:55 – 4:10]

The post-show events have also been used to further storylines. On May 10, John Cena put R-Truth through a table at Backlash to set up a match at Saturday Night's Main Event.
