R-Truth is officially back in WWE, following his shock return at Money in the Bank. He had announced his departure from the company a week earlier.
This is a result of the overwhelming response to Truth's WWE release. The legendary star has confirmed why he was brought back, sending a heartfelt message to his fans.
Replying to a fan's post on X/Twitter about wrestlers and fans using their voices to help bring him back, R-Truth stated that #WeWantTruth was seen, heard, felt, and understood by WWE. That is why they brought him back. He also said he loves everyone to death and that they made history together:
"🙌🏾🔥💪🏾🙏🏾 No🧢 #WeWantTruth was seen, heard, felt and understood… Believe me when I say this, I Love EVERYONE of yall to death🥲 We made history together," he wrote.
While WWE took notice of the online movement, R-Truth initially ignored their approaches during the week. Nick Khan himself reportedly had to step in and convince the former United States Champion to return.
While he returned as R-Truth, the 53-year-old star is set to be called by his real name, Ron Killings, in WWE. This was specifically requested by him as part of his new deal with the company, according to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer.
This is likely to result in a change in character as well, with Killings becoming a more serious version of himself. We saw glimpses of this at Money in the Bank when he attacked John Cena during his main event tag team match alongside Logan Paul. Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso won as a result of Truth's interference.
The main reason for the name change is that he can establish himself as Ron Killings after his current WWE deal ends. This would help with his independent bookings and appearances afterwards. Either way, the entire situation has been turned into a positive one.
