“It's as much a shock to you guys as it was to me" - WWE champion is still in disbelief after winning title

A current WWE champion has admitted to being shocked after she won a title recently. The star had lost numerous title chances and was not expecting to win this time either.

Zelina Vega was interviewed by USA Today, where she spoke about winning the Women's US Title on the April 25, 2025, edition of WWE SmackDown.

Zelina Vega admitted that winning the title had indeed been a shock to her. She was not ready for the idea that she had actually won the title, and it was only as she looked at the championship she was holding that she realized it was real. She ended up grabbing her face and getting emotional over the situation.

“It's as much a shock to you guys as it was to me. I just realized that as I looked at (the title), I was like, ‘Oh (expletive), this is real.’ That's when I grabbed my face. That's when I realized it was real.”

She went on to admit that it had been deflating to lose every single time she got so close to winning a title but not winning it. While she did get something out of each loss, she was also worried that it would happen too many times and fans would stop caring about her altogether.

Zelina Vega has already had an unforgettable feud with Chelsea Green in WWE

While Chelsea Green may beg to differ, her feud with Zelina Vega has been one of the highlights in WWE over the last few weeks. She lost the US Title to Vega and has lost the rematch to gain it back as well.

However, the feud between the two stars has highlighted both of their stronger qualities and has also involved the Secret Hervice. Now, the WWE star has bigger issues facing her at the moment, but she also has the chance to create quite a legacy as the champion.
