Grosse Pointe Garden Society is an NBC dark comedy crime drama series that premiered in February 2025. Created by Bill Krebs and Jenna Bans, the show aired for thirteen episodes and concluded on May 16, 2025, ending on a new cliffhanger.

Set in the eponymous elite society in Detroit, Michigan, the show centers on a murder mystery. Four members of a gardening club, Alice, Catherine, Birdie, and Brett, become entangled in a murder and do their best to cover it up with the help of some other confidantes.

The narrative shifts between timelines to show what led to the murder and what transpired afterward. Although the episodes dropped clues about the identity of the dead person, it was not revealed until the series finale.

As of the writing of this article, Grosse Pointe Garden Society has not been renewed for a second season. NBC has yet to make any official announcements regarding its renewal.

Grosse Pointe Garden Society stars Aja Naomi King (Lessons in Chemistry), Melissa Fumero (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Ben Rappaport (Ozark), and Anna-Sophia Robb (Bridge to Terabithia) as the four lead characters, Catherine, Birdie, Brett, and Alice, respectively.

Each of the four characters is juggling personal issues while actively contributing to the garden society. Throughout the show, several red herrings were planted that kept the true identity of the murder victim a secret.

In an interview with TheWrap published in May 2025, showrunners Jenna Bans and Bill Krebs were asked about the show's renewal. In response, Bans expressed optimism, noting that the series was doing well on streaming. She added:

"We know we have a lot of support at the network, and people love it creatively, so we’re just hopeful they’ll find a way to bring us back. It might not be a traditional way, but we’ll see. We have nothing concrete though."

After the first six episodes aired, the show's timeslot was changed from Sundays at 10 pm to Fridays at 8 pm. This change in airtime posed the threat of cancellation. As of now, its future is still in limbo.

Season 1 ended with Alice seemingly going to the police station to confess the crime she had committed with her friends. Meanwhile, Catherine, Brett, and Birdie put the murder victim—Keith, Alice's father-in-law—in a compost bin and locked it. If Alice told the truth to the police, season 2 would likely see the group facing serious consequences.

Since Patty and Doug discovered that Keith had mysteriously disappeared—while Patty continued to receive messages from his phone—the mother-son duo is likely to start looking for him and may even go to the police.

The private investigator, who had tried to extort them in exchange for the body, regained consciousness after a heart attack. All the proof he had gathered against the four friends was gone, but he might have something else and try to blackmail them again in season 2.

At the end of Grosse Pointe Garden Society season 1 finale, there was a time jump to the Halloween celebration of the next season. Dressed in their Halloween costumes, Brett, Birdie, and Catherine were seen confronting someone in a duck costume. The person’s identity remained hidden, leaving room for speculation that it could be someone threatening to expose their closely guarded secret.
