Tammy Moorer and Sidney Moorer were convicted of conspiracy and kidnapping of Heather Elvis. She was a 20-year-old woman who disappeared from her Carolina Forest apartment on December 18, 2013. Heather worked as a waitress for the Tilted Kitchen, where Sidney was employed as a repairman.
Though Tammy Moorer was married to Sidney, he soon indulged in an affair with Heather Elvis.
The affair ended in September 2013, when Sidney's wife Tammy found out about the relationship. Reportedly, Tammy Moorer forced Sidney to call Heather and end the relationship. On the night of Heather's disappearance, after going on a first date with a man, she was dropped at her apartment but was never seen again.

It was in February 2014 when both Sidney Moorer and Tammy were arrested and charged with kidnapping and murder. Due to a lack of physical evidence, the case moved on with kidnapping charges. It was in October 2018 when Tammy Moorer was found guilty of conspiracy and kidnapping of Heather Elvis. She was sentenced to 30 years for each count, to be served concurrently.
Sidney Moorer received his imprisonment at Lee Correctional Institution. His wife, Tammy Moorer, is currently incarcerated at the Camille Griffin Graham Correctional Institution.
According to Heather Elvis' Twitter account post, it was back in June 2013 when she first began connecting with Sidney Moorer. Briana Warrelman, Heather's coworker and roommate, stated that Moorer repaired the kitchen equipment in the restaurant.
As reported by The New York Times, soon, Sidney Moorer began checking in on Heather frequently. He even started bringing coffee and bagels for her. Sidney even asked Heather to work as a nanny for his children, as the family was considering moving to Florida.
The affair between Sidney Moorer and Heather ended in October 2013. After Sidney's wife, Tammy, found out about their relationship, she soon began harassing Heather with threatening texts.
As reported by Oxygen, Tammy Moorer handcuffed Sidney to the bed, so he couldn't sneak out of the house, and remain faithful to her. Tammy continued to send messages to Heather, which she finally started to ignore. Tammy reportedly forced Sidney to get a tattoo of her name in an intimate area.
As reported by The State, on the night of December 17, 2013, Heather went out on a new date with a man named Steven Schiraldi. It was around 1:15 am on December 18, 2013, when Schiraldi dropped off at her apartment in Carolina Forest, which she shared with Brianna Warrelman. Around 20 minutes later, she received a call from Sidney from a public telephone.
As reported by Oxygen, the two spoke for 4 minutes, where Sidney Moorer allegedly told her he was leaving his wife. It was the next day, on December 19, 2013, when her abandoned car was found at a boat landing near Myrtle Beach. The body of Heather Elvis was not recovered.
When authorities checked the call records, and Sidney Moorer was brought in for interrogation, he denied making the call. However, when the authorities showed him surveillance footage of him using the pay phone, he agreed. Tammy Moorer also admitted to the authorities that she was present with Sidney when the call was made.
According to News13, Sidney claimed that he made the call only to tell her to leave him alone, because she had been leaving notes on his car. On December 18, 2013, Sidney Moorer was found in the surveillance footage of a Myrtle Beach Walmart, where he purchased some cigars and a pregnancy kit.
Sidney claimed that the pregnancy kit was for his wife. However, Heather's coworkers reported that she had rapid weight gain around her hips, indicating that she may have been pregnant.
In an article published by My Horry News on February 21, 2014, when authorities obtained a search warrant for the Moores' residence. After 11 hours of search, Sidney and Tammy Moorer were arrested and charged with abduction, murder, and obstruction of justice. Additionally, both of the culprits were charged with two counts of indecent exposure.
Reportedly, while searching their phones, investigators found them taking s*xually explicit images in public. As reported by WPDE, it was in March 2016 when the murder charges against Sidney and Tammy Moorer were dismissed.
It was in September 2019 when Sidney Moorer was found guilty of the kidnapping of Heather Elvis. He was sentenced to 30 years behind bars, as per a report by WMBF.
In October 2018, Tammy Moorer was found guilty of both conspiracy to kidnapping, along with kidnapping charges. She received a sentence of 30 years for each count. Tammy Moorer's release date is currently scheduled for March 31, 2044.
