On Monday night, June 9, Playboi Carti arrived at the 2025 BET Awards with unique jewelry, designed by Alex Moss, that caught fans' attention.

A video posted by No Jumper on X on Tuesday, June 10, revealed the Punk Monk rapper holding an iced-out lollipop at the award show, with its candy studded with pink stones and the holding stick featuring white ones.

Despite the lollipop being a jewelry - and not a real, edible one - Playboi Carti was treating it as such, by putting the candy into his mouth.

Ranking on top of Complex's list of celebrity jewelers in April 2025, Alex Moss has been in the jewelry-making business for five years. Known for designing highly customized, detailed pieces of jewelry, Moss has a star-studded roster, with A$AP Rocky, Yeat, Drake, Tyler, the Creator, and Playboi Carti being some of his high-profile clients.

Alex Moss interned with the diamond district jewelers Avianne & Co. at the beginning of his career, which was followed by the launch of his own company, Alex Moss New York (AMNY), in 2020.

In an exclusive interview with Complex earlier this year (published April 4, 2025), Alex Moss revealed that he was working on about 15-30 custom pieces for his clients at a time. Moss also owns an expansive line of in-house jewelry, with his retail partners being The Webster and Maxfield LA.

Opening up about how some of his custom pieces often ended up back with Moss for repairs, the designer said,

"I like to tell my clients that jewelry is like cars. They're really fine-tuned, expensive luxury items, but they need maintenance. Imagine someone like Don Toliver jumping up and down on stage. It is given that the piece is going to lose some stones or get a little scratch. So, they'll just send it in for repair and I'll shoot it back out to them."

Alex Moss's jewelry stands out because of his bold approach to design, his attention to detail, usage of high-quality materials, and goth and punk motifs.

Some of his well-recognized jewelry pieces are A$AP Rocky's Lego Man pendant, Drake's "Previous Engagements" necklace, his "Crown Jewel of Toronto" chain, and Tyler, the Creator's diamond and sapphire Bellhop necklace.

In an interview with Complex, Moss said he didn’t come from a family of designers but had a natural talent for design from a young age. At 11, the Toronto native created jewelry designs on Photoshop, printed them out, and wore the cutouts. In 2016, he moved to New York City to study fashion at Parsons.

Speaking about his view on jewelry, Moss told Complex,

"I look at jewelry as more of a fashion piece. I'm not looking at it as, ‘How can I make this as icy as possible?’ I’m not worried about competition because I'm bringing in a new product that doesn't exist."

One of Alex Moss's earliest custom creations was a chain with the logo of his clothing brand, Bandit. It featured two AK-47s crossed at the butt stock. It continues to be his most cherished jewelry to this day, Complex reports.
