Real Madrid are preparing to upgrade their squad after a disappointing 2024-25 campaign. The LaLiga giants have already replaced Carlo Ancelotti with Xabi Alonso, and will be seen in action next at the FIFA Club World Cup.
Meanwhile, AC Milan have set their sights on a Spanish midfielder. Elsewhere, Los Blancos have the chance to sign Diogo Costa this summer.
On that note, let's look at the major Real Madrid transfer stories from June 8, 2025.
AC Milan are ready to offer €20 million for the services of Dani Ceballos this summer, according to Fichajes.net (via Madrid Universal). The Spanish midfielder's future at Real Madrid is up in the air after a mixed campaign.
Ceballos registered 41 appearances across competitions, but only 22 of them were starts. His situation is unlikely to improve following the arrival of Xabi Alonso as Carlo Ancelotti's replacement at the end of the season.
AC Milan are planning to take advantage and price the 28-year-old away. The Serie A side are even willing to offer a modest fee for Ceballos, which could convince the LaLiga giants.
Real Madrid have been offered the chance to sign Diogo Costa this summer, according to Defensa Central. The LaLiga giants could be tempted to move for a new goalkeeper this year amid the uncertainties surrounding Andriy Lunin's future.
Thibaut Courtois remains the undisputed No. 1 at the Santiago Bernabeu and is trusted by the club as well. However, the Belgian has also suffered with injuries in recent times, forcing Los Blancos to consider their options.
Super agent Jorge Mendes has now given Real Madrid the option of securing the services of Diogo Costa. The Portuguese custodian is coming off another impressive campaign with Porto, where he registered 19 clean sheets from 43 games. Los Blancos are not considering a move at the moment, but are likely to monitor Costa closely henceforth.
Real Madrid legend Michel Salgado has tipped Xabi Alonso to be a hit at the Santiago Bernabeu. The Spanish manager secured the domestic double with Bayer Leverkusen in the 2023-24 campaign before taking charge of Los Blancos this summer.
Speaking recently, as cited by Mundo Deportivo (via Madrid Universal), Salgado was full of praise for his countryman.
“I have played with Alonso in the national team, I know him personally, in fact we did our coaching licence together. He seems to me to be a coach with a spectacular personality, who will undoubtedly do things well at Madrid, he knows the club and has a very clear vision of football and what he wants, and that makes things easier,” said Salgado.
Salgado, however, added that fans must appreciate Carlo Ancelotti's efforts at the Santiago Bernabeu.
“[They have to] value what Carlo Ancelotti has done. The fact that he is leaving is something to be valued by everyone. He is one of the best coaches in the history of Real Madrid, and we have to thank him,” said Salgado.
Carlo Ancelotti won 15 trophies during his time with Los Blancos and is the club's most successful manager.
