According to the Daily Mail, Manchester City forward Jack Grealish could move to Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen this summer. The Englishman has struggled for minutes in Pep Guardiola’s side recently and was omitted from the Cityzens' squad for the expanded Club World Cup.
Grealish is said to have admirers at Bayer Leverkusen, who look set to receive a windfall from the imminent sale of Florian Wirtz to Liverpool. Grealish is about to enter the final 24 months of his deal with City, and as such, isn't expected to command a massive fee for the German side.
Grealish joined Manchester City in the summer of 2021 from his boyhood club Aston Villa for a reported £100 million (€117.5 million). He has represented the Sky Blues 157 times across competitions, scoring 17 goals and providing 23 assists. His contract with the side runs until the summer of 2027.
England manager Thomas Tuchel has urged Manchester city star Jack Grealish to seek out regular football if he hopes to take part in the 2026 World Cup with the Three Lions. The Englishman has struggled for consistent minutes under Pep Guardiola and could be on his way out of the club four years after he arrived from Aston Villa.
Speaking about the Englishman’s chances of participating in the North American World Cup, Tuchel said (via FotMob):
"He needs to make himself available by playing, I think it's one of his key strengths. To go every three days and get better and better with every minute that he has in his legs. That's what is missing, nothing else.”
The German concluded:
"I love Jack for his personality and, of course, his talent. He is a very unique player who can handle big pressure on the field. He is never shy of pressure. It's the opposite. He grows in big matches, but he's a player who needs minutes and minutes and minutes and simply does not get them for a very long time. Nothing has changed.”
Jack Grealish managed only 1521 minutes across 32 games for Manchester City in the 2024-25 campaign, scoring three times and providing five assists.
