Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski has announced that he will not accept any invitations from the Poland national team while Michał Probierz remains in charge. The veteran striker made himself unavailable for the Poland squad for their internationals this month, citing mental fatigue as the reason for his absence.

Lewandowski issued a statement on Instagram just around 24 hours after defending his absence from the squad that faced Moldova on Friday. The 36-year-old pointed out that he has lost his trust in the national team manager and will not play for him anymore.

"Considering the circumstances and the loss of trust in the coach of the Polish National Team, I decided to resign from playing in the Polish National Team. I hope that I will be able to play for the best fans in the world again."

Robert Lewandowski enjoyed an impressive season for Barcelona, propelling them to win the league, cup, and Spanish Super Cup. The former Bayern Munich man scored 42 goals in 52 appearances for La Blaugrana across all competitions, finishing only behind Kylian Mbappe in the Pichichi race.

Lewandowski is the captain of Poland, a role he has played since 2014, and is his national team's record goalscorer. He has found the net 85 times in 158 international appearances for his country and is one of their greatest players ever.

Barcelona star hints at contract renewal this summer

Barcelona star Frenkie De Jong has revealed that he intends to sign a new contract with the Spanish giants this summer. The Dutchman is set to enter into the final year of his contract and is eager to end the long-standing contract saga with the club.

De Jong spoke with VZ (via Barca Universal) about his plans for his future with the Spanish giants, pointing out that he intends to renew his deal. He pointed out that there is no certainty with how negotiations will progress, but he believes an agreement will be reached.

“I think I’m going to renew for Barça. I can’t be one hundred percent sure, but if everything goes well, it will be done. My intention is to renew this summer, but we will see what happens. It is a negotiation and you can’t say exactly when. The important thing is that both parties want it, and I think we will reach an agreement.”

Barcelona have handed out multiple contract renewals in recent months, with the likes of Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Pedri, and Ronald Araujo inking new deals. The club have termed De Jong's extension as a priority and will treat it as such in the coming months.
