Jordan host Iraq at the Amman International Stadium on Tuesday for their final match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in the third round. The Chivalrous Ones created history earlier this week by sealing their place at next year's showpiece following a comprehensive 3-0 win over Oman.
With that, Jordan are set to make their first ever appearance in the competition when the tournament kicks off in US, Canada and Mexico next June.
Ranked 62nd in the world, the Middle East side's long wait for a World Cup debut is finally over after a strong run in the third round that saw them lose just once from nine games.
With 16 points in the bag, Jamal Sellami's side are second only to South Korea, who have also qualified for the World Cup, in Group B. They will be looking to end their run on a high note.
On the other hand, Iraq are still alive in the race for next year's showpiece and have booked their place in the fourth round of the qualifiers. They are right behind Jordan in third, having accrued four points fewer and cannot mathemtically finish outside of the top four ahead of their final qualifying fixture of the round.
Their progress was sealed despite a 2-0 loss to Korea in their last game on 5 June, as Oman's loss to Jordan in the other game left the standings unchanged among them.
The Chivalrous Ones are already through to the main event but may still want to end a memorable campaign on a high.
Iraq will certainly pose a challenge but Jordan may still come through with a narrow win.
