Brunei host Bhutan at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Bandar Seri Begawan on Tuesday for their clash in the 2027 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers. The Wasps are looking to pick themselves up following a 5-0 drubbing at the hands of Lebanon in their opening game.

Malek Fakhro netted twice on either side of a goal from Samy Merheg while Husseyn Chakroun also scored before the break to put the Cedars 4-0 up. Brunei managed to slow them down after the break, but there was one last straw in the 90th minute as Mohamad Haidar added a fifth for Lebanon.

Since that game in March, Brunei have played once more, a friendly game against Sri Lanka on Thursday, which resulted in a 1-0 loss for Brunei in Thailand. Leon Perera struck the only goal of the game in the 57th minute as Brunei crashed to their fourth loss in a row in all competitions.

Meanwhile, Bhutan drew 0-0 with Yemen in their first cup qualifying game. So with a point in the bag, the Dragon Boys are in second place in Group B, with Brunei rock-bottom in fourth.

Earlier this week, the South Asian side also played a friendly, taking on Bangladesh in Dhaka, which ended with a 2-0 loss for the visitors. Hamza Choudhury fired the Bengal Tigers in front after six minutes before Sohel Rana doubled their advantage five minutes into the second half.

Brunei vs Bhutan Prediction

This is a clash of two lowly ranked sides without genuine quality in their ranks and coming off the back of poor runs. A low-scoring draw seems fitting in this fixture.
